EAP in the era of Superdiversity Opportunities and Challenges

Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh invites you to a hybrid PIM in March 2027.  Our theme will be: EAP in the era of Superdiversity: Opportunities and Challenges

A concept developed in recent years, superdiversity extends beyond the study of new migrants or population movements across national borders to include interactions between different individuals in the same place and the mobility of resources and people within borders (Blackledge et al., 2018).

This PIM theme could include but is not limited to discussion of:

• adjusting to the rapid evolution of language practices (e.g., translanguaging, AI-assisted writing)
• shifts in social relationships and identity performances (e.g., evolving perceptions of native and non-native English-speaking teachers)
• opportunities and tensions within transnational education
