About the Scheme

Here you can find all the information you need to help you get started with your TEAP accreditation application.

What is the TEAP Accreditation Scheme?

BALEAP’s TEAP (Teaching English for Academic Purposes) Accreditation Scheme supports the professional development of EAP practitioners across a range of contexts and roles. Whether you're just starting out in the field or you're a seasoned professional, the scheme provides a clear framework for reflection, growth, and recognition.

Why TEAP?

  • A structured path for career progression
  • Professional recognition within and beyond the EAP sector
  • A reflective and evidence-based route to develop and showcase your practice
  • A community of peers, mentors, and assessors to support your journey

Backed by BALEAP values

TEAP is built on the core values of:

  • Professionalism – a commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Development – engagement with scholarship and resources to support growth
  • Collaboration – learning and development with and through others
  • Inclusivity – respect for all learners and the promotion of equitable learning opportunities

Who is it for?

The TEAP scheme is open to all BALEAP individual members and staff at BALEAP member institutions, regardless of location, contract type or institutional setting.

Three different levels

The TEAP scheme offers three pathways, each designed to reflect different stages in an EAP practitioner’s career, starting from Associate Fellow through to Senior Fellow. Each pathway involves writing a Reflective Account of Professional Practice (RAPP) and compiling a supporting portfolio of evidence.
