TAF SIG Webinar: Online entry tests

28th April 2020 @ 1:00pm - 2:00pm

The Testing, Assessment and Feedback SIG (TAFSIG) committee would like to invite you to a webinar led by Wayne Rimmer (University of Manchester) for a critical overview of the commercial online entry tests currently available for direct-entry and online presessional students. The relevance of the session is that, as discussed in the previous TAFSIG webinar, HEIsĀ  need to evaluate whether tests are valid, robust in an online environment, and compliant with admissions and UKVI requirements.

Themes covered by the webinar:

  • Baseline characteristics of an appropriate entry test
  • External vs. in-house tests
  • Critique of the commercial tests many HEIs will be considering
  • Backwash and longer-term consequences of adoption

The structure of the webinar will be as follows:

  • 30 mins: Presentation of the rationale for adopting commercial tests and analysis of their individual characteristics
  • 15 mins: Break out rooms for exploration of the themes
  • 15 mins: Sharing of themes with the main group; questions and answers

We hope that the webinar will be both informative and practical for decision-makers and other stakeholders.

The recording of the webinar can be accessed here.
