Individual Membership

Individual membership is available to anyone in the academic community with an interest in EAP. It entitles you to:

• Attend biennial BALEAP conferences and one-day Professional Interest Meetings at members’ rates
• Attend and vote at the BALEAP Annual General Meetings
• Receive information on all BALEAP activities
• Access the discussion list (mailbase) to engage in discussion on topics of mutual concern, engage in informal consultancy and obtain advice
• Receive the Journal of English for Academic Purposes (JEAP) as part of their membership to BALEAP (starting the January after signing up and running for the calendar year)

The BALEAP membership year runs from 1st August to 31st July and renewals will be sought in July each year, regardless of joining date.

Memberships for those who join during this period will therefore cover less than twelve months in the first year*.

Please note that the “sign up fee” is essentially the membership fee of your first year of membership. This is due at the point of signing up. A renewal reminder is sent every year in July, when the fees for the next membership year are due.

* Following the Annual General Meeting each year, a reduced fee of £25 will be charged for those wishing to join as an individual member before year end; however, JEAP subscription would not be included for that short part of the year. (For retired/student/unwaged memberships, the reduced fee after the AGM would be £10.00.)
