The Skills Centre at the University of Bath seeks to appoint well-qualified and experienced tutors of English for Academic Purposes for its summer pre-sessional English courses for international postgraduate students.

Students from the Faculties of Engineering & Design, Humanities & Social Sciences and Science are taught in multi-disciplinary classes; students from the School of Management are taught in management-specific classes. The courses are either six or eleven weeks long, including a paid five-day induction. Working with our students is rewarding, challenging and, we believe, professionally developmental.

We are looking for teachers with the following qualifications and experience:

A first degree
A postgraduate degree or diploma-level teaching qualification related to English language teaching, for example an MA in Applied Linguistics, the DELTA or the Trinity Diploma in TESOL
Proven knowledge and experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes in a higher education context.
We also particularly look for:

Experience of teaching on university pre-sessional English courses
Excellent communication and team-working skills
Enthusiasm and commitment!
You will teach up to 20 hours per week, conduct tutorials, attend staff meetings and standardisation sessions, mark student work, assess student progress, carry out administrative duties related to teaching and report to the appropriate Course Leader to ensure that the course runs smoothly and is of high quality. Comprehensive teaching materials are provided for you to adapt as necessary to the needs of your classes.

Course Dates (including induction):

Pre-sessional C: 2 July 2018 – 14 September 2018

Pre-sessional D: 6 August – 14 September 2018

Please specify on your application form your first and second preference of course (C or D) and your preference for the multi-disciplinary or management students. You are expected to be available for the full length of the induction and the course and there is no opportunity to take leave at any time during the course.
