The Birmingham International Academy (BIA) at the University of Birmingham is a British Council accredited department which provides English language and Academic skills development and support to undergraduate and postgraduate students across the University of Birmingham (UoB) through the provision of In-sessional and Presessional (general, multidisciplinary and business-specific) English programmes in academic skills and academic English. A full induction is provided as well as a comprehensive CPD programme delivered by our dedicated CPD team.
We are looking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced Teaching Fellows on Casual Appointment contracts for our summer 10, 6 and 4-week Presessional English courses.

Postholders will be responsible for teaching English for Academic Purposes to postgraduate, undergraduate or Foundation Presessional students as Class Teachers or Language Support Teachers.

Summer 2023 courses are on campus for the 10, 6- & 4-week courses and online for the 6-week. On-campus staff must be within commutable distance to campus. Staff teaching the online programme must be in the UK for the duration of the course. All staff must have the right to work in the UK.
Course dates (including induction):
10 week campus: 4 July 2023 – 15 September 2023
6 week online and on campus: 11 July 2023 – 25 August 2023
4 week campus: 10 August 2023 – 8 September 2023

Job Salary & Benefits

£32,348 – £42,155 pro rata
optional pension scheme
Fully subsidised campus accommodation is available from the 9th July
