About the Role
The Language Centre, within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is looking to appoint experienced EAP Teaching Fellows to teach on the Pre-Sessional Programme over the summer for the following course(s), depending on student numbers and business needs:
About You
You will have a relevant postgraduate degree and/or relevant professional qualification (e.g. DELTA) and/or equivalent professional experience as well as prior experience of teaching Pre-Sessional or EAP courses in a Higher Education context. As a skilled communicator you will have the ability to present material in a logical, coherent and interesting manner, together with good IT and organisational skills.

Postgraduate degree and/or relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent professional experience (Essential)
Experience / Knowledge
Experience of undergraduate teaching appropriate to the level of appointment or professional experience in a relevant discipline to that being taught (Essential)
Previous experience of teaching pre-sessional or EAP (Essential)
Knowledge of subject to post-graduate level (Desirable)
Skills / Abilities
Ability to work independently and to show initiative (Essential)
Ability to prioritise and balance competing demands (Essential)
Responsive to feedback (Essential)
Ability to present specialist material in a logical, coherent and interesting manner, both to students and to fellow specialists (Essential)

Job Salary & Benefits

Job salary and Benefits
Pre-Sessional Course B, Tuesday 9 July – 11 September 2024 (9 weeks, covers teaching for courses B and C including 4 days of induction). The post-holder will be required to undertake 18 contact hours per week. The salary will be around £8,194 (equivalent to £42,405 per annum, pro rata) and is inclusive of holiday pay, preparation time, induction, admin/office hours and marking. The contracts are hourly paid.
Pre-Sessional Course C, Tuesday 6 August – 11 September 2024 (5 weeks- including 4 days of induction). The post-holder will be required to undertake 18 contact hours per week. The salary will be around £4,864 (equivalent to £42,405 per annum, pro rata) and is inclusive of holiday pay, preparation time, induction, admin/office hours and marking. The contracts are hourly paid.
Each course and pay includes a mandatory induction over four days (18 hours) from Tuesday to Friday (inclusive).
