Cardiff Sixth Form College Cambridge is looking for a teacher of English for Academic Purposes to join the existing EAP staff to implement the college’s comprehensive EAP curriculum. This is focused on supporting and developing the language skills that our cohort of international students will need to excel in their chosen A Level subjects, to gain admission to university (including obtaining the necessary IELTS qualifications), and to prepare students to meet the demands of academic language use at undergraduate level and beyond.
Duties will include:
– Teaching small classes of Year 12 and 13 students
– Working with the existing EAP staff to update and implement the existing EAP Scheme of Work according to student needs
– Updating and developing teaching materials where necessary to support EAP provision
– Providing additional, targeted individual or small-group support where necessary, with the aim of supporting students’ language needs in their A Level subjects as well as to achieve the IELTS qualifications required for university admissions
– Preparing, administering and marking in-house assessments for students
Providing regular feedback to students and parents about their progress
– Taking responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
Qualifications:
– Undergraduate degree (essential)
– Post-graduate degree in a relevant subject area (e.g. Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Education) (desirable)
– Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CELTA, DELTA or equivalent) (desirable)
Experience:
– Teaching ESOL, EFL, ESL, EAL etc. (essential)
– Teaching EAP (desirable)
– EAP course design (desirable)
– Preparing students for IELTS (desirable)
Other skills / requirements include:
– IT competence (essential)
– Strong organisational skills (essential)
– Ability to build rapport with students to gain trust and confidence (essential)
– Takes responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students (essential)
– Can provide a satisfactory DBS check (essential)

Salary: £36,400 to £47,000 depending on experience, qualifications and wider responsibilities
