Summer Pre-sessional Tutor

Job Details

The ELC is currently looking for suitably qualified and inspirational EAP teachers to deliver its summer Pre-sessional English courses. Duties include the preparation and delivery of lessons focused on the research project, lecture and seminar discussions, and presentations as well as assessment, feedback and teaching-related administration. The working week is 35 hours with up to 18 contact hours p/week including tutorials.

Course dates
10-week On Campus 1st July – 6th September 2024
Contract dates
The contract runs from: 26/06/24 – 06/09/24, inclusive of a three-day paid induction. Students start on 01/07/24.

Required qualifications and experience

DELTA or equivalent (MA in TESOL, Applied Linguistics or similar)
Prior experience of teaching and assessing English for Academic Purposes within a HE context
Excellent organisation and time management, positivity, collegiality & teamwork skills, and effective written and verbal communication skills
Flexibility to adapt to the course requirements

Applicants without the relevant qualifications, as listed at point one above will not be considered.

£38,205 pro-rata + 16.88% holiday pay

Holiday pay is added due to the ELC policy that holiday requests during the contract period will only be permitted in exceptional circumstances, and with the relevant salary deductions. Subsidised accommodation on campus will be available on request.
