The role of our Pre-sessional tutors and summer academic English tutors is to deliver language and academic literacy teaching through online and technology-enhanced learning for the Language Centre’s Summer Pre-sessional Course. Work in support of teaching will include contributing to curriculum development, feedback and assessment, quality assurance and professional development, to ensure that the Language Centre’s offering reflects the high standards of excellence of the University of Oxford.
Tutors are required for 6 weeks from Monday 3 August to Friday 11 September 2020 for 37.5 hours per week from Monday-Friday between 09.00 and 17.30. The first week is an induction week, with teaching starting on Monday 10 August.
Classes are held online through Zoom and our Virtual Learning Environment, Canvas, and our Pre-sessional tutors teach up to 15 hours per week during the course. Tutors teach to small groups, usually using a combination of their own and provided materials while making use of the VLE. Tutors have the stimulating responsibility of working with language learners from diverse cultural, linguistic and academic subject areas – learners who are predominantly offer-holders and future students of the University of Oxford. Tutors will work in a team spirit with other Pre-sessional tutors, administrative staff and the Head of Academic English.
£19.60 per hour (including holiday pay at 12.07%)
