Job Details

Teaching on the In-sessional programme of general and specific EAP courses. 8-10 hours per week average. Courses start w/c 26th September.
Main Duties
• Planning and teaching courses and adapting materials as appropriate to the needs of students
• Developing new syllabuses and materials with the support of the teaching team
• Supporting students in one-to-one tutorials
• Assisting with induction talks, diagnostic testing and other promotional activities
• Accurate and timely record keeping
• Attending staff meetings and engaging in staff development activities

Essential
• a CELTA and DELTA (or equivalents with substantial TEFL component)
• a minimum of 2 years EAP experience
• recent experience of teaching on UK higher education In-sessional courses
• ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve course aims
• ability to maintain high quality of work within tight deadlines
• a good level of competence in routine use of basic educational technology: word processing, email, VLEs etc. for materials adaptation, blended learning and routine record keeping tasks
• experience of teaching multilingual classes
• excellent teaching skills
Desirable
• recent experience of teaching subject-specific EAP; postgraduates; EAP for Law and Business
• experience of teaching home and international students together
• a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics or related subject

Job Salary & Benefits

In-Sessional EAP tutors will be employed as Hourly Paid Lecturers. Weekly schedules may vary but will be approximately 8-10 hours per week during each teaching block: Sept-Dec & Jan-April. Work may be available on our summer Pre-sessional programme. Hourly rates vary according to qualifications but range between £33.34- £42.26 (factored teaching hours) and £21.62-£23.49 (factored non-teaching hours). These rates include London weighting and holiday pay.
