Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Senior Applied Language Teaching Fellow within UCD Applied Language Centre.

The UCD Applied Language Centre (ALC) is primarily a teaching and resource centre which provides language modules and programmes to students across the University and externally. It has a university-wide remit to provide teaching, self-study, testing and advisory services across UCD and internationally.
Currently, the ALC supports the delivery of foreign language modules for over 1200 students, and provides English Language modules and programmes for 800 international students.

Reporting to the Director (or nominee), the Senior Applied Language Teaching Fellow will ensure the delivery of a highly flexible, responsive and effective language teaching to students. The main function of the Senior Applied Language Teaching Fellow is to undertake a range of contact teaching, teaching-related and administrative duties associated with the running of large scale language programmes. Normally, non-contact hours will be carried out at the ALC. The post holder will be required to maintain currency through ongoing professional development in research and scholarship associated with keeping up to date and further developing their teaching practice and facilitating pedagogical development, leading a large scale language programme and supporting the ALC’s graduate TESOL programmes

The Senior Applied Language Teaching Fellow will manage and coordinate the work of language teachers AND will oversee Module Enhancement responsibilities assigned to nominated teachers (including for example: Updating the VLE, annual revision of exam papers, upskilling in areas necessary for ME, syllabus standardisation, participation in teacher development framework, assist in teacher interviews).

The post holder will also be required to foster collaborative working relationships with all colleagues and stakeholders in a professional and approachable manner and have experience working with students from diverse educational, cultural and work backgrounds.

Important Note: In support of this position, it is expected that the successful candidate will be resident in in Chang’an and/or Guangzhou, China for up to 12 weeks in an academic year and perhaps for up to half a year (26 weeks).
Salary Range: €47,432 to €64,264 per annum
