The Centre for Academic English is a busy and dynamic team of people who believe in, and are committed to, providing the highest quality of academic language and literacy courses to support the research and teaching of STEM subjects at Imperial College London. The Centre provides a range of courses and workshops to better support College members in communicating their science more powerfully and more effectively. Our sector-leading summer pre-sessional programme is a key part of this provision.

The Centre is seeking to appoint a number of well-qualified and experienced EAP teachers who will deliver our summer pre-sessional courses to prospective Imperial students mainly going on to postgraduate degrees. The courses are uniquely STEM-focused and based around online materials and tasks using Office 365 and Blackboard. Teachers will deliver classes on general academic literacy as well as discipline-specific language and discourse, and engage students in a number of STEM-related activities which explore current Imperial research and involve Imperial researchers. These courses are increasingly managed online with a paperless timetable, online student journals, online assessments and student coaching.

The courses run for 6 and 3 weeks.
6-week course: Mon 12th August – Fri 20th September 2019 (incl teacher induction Thurs 8th and Fri 9thAugust)
3-week course: Mon 2nd September – Fri 20th September 2019 (incl teacher induction Fri 30th August)

N.B. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the course, including induction. College accommodation may be available.

Job Salary & Benefits

£36,926- £45,547
