Job Details

Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes Tutors are required for Loughborough University Online Pre-sessional Courses:

Online Pre-sessional Course C
Monday 22 June – Friday 11 September 2020.
Teacher induction – Monday 22 June – Thursday 25 June. Teaching commences Friday 26 June.

Online Pre-sessional Course D
Monday 13 July – Friday 28 August 2020.
Teacher induction – Monday 13 July – Thursday 16 July. Teaching commences Friday 17 July.

Tutors must be available for the full duration of the course.

You should be a graduate with a CELTA or equivalent, ideally hold a DELTA or equivalent and / or relevant MA/MSc, have significant experience teaching English language to adult learners and have an understanding of EAP. Experience of teaching EAP year round or on a pre-sessional programme would be an advantage. You must be fluent in English both written and oral and must be able to provide effective written and oral feedback to students. You must have excellent IT skills.

Addendum
Due to the current Covid-19 situation, Loughborough University pre-sessional courses will be delivered online and Pre-sessional EAP Tutors will be working remotely for the duration of their contract. They will therefore need IT equipment and internet connection to fulfil this role.

Job Salary & Benefits

Management and Specialist, Grade 6, GBP 34,804 to GBP 40,322 pro rata per annum, at a starting salary to be confirmed on offer of appointment.

Addendum:

We have received a number of queries from Tutors and potential applicants around the possible operational need to work on the University’s campus and the likelihood of this happening. The COVID-19 pandemic has called for a dramatic shift in our operations, with the current proposal for this course to be delivered online. However, despite the University having a recovery plan to a return to a new normal, Government advice is forever evolving and we cannot categorically rule out Tutors being required to work from the University campus for this round of English for Academic Purposes courses. Our contract of employment lists the place of work as Loughborough University and so, if operational need dictates, the contract expectation is that Tutors will be available to teach on campus. It is unfortunate that we cannot offer any more certainty than this at the current time, but wanted to be clear that it remains a distinct possibility that Tutors may be required to work from the University campus.
