The Centre is offering suitably qualified and experienced EAP practitioners the opportunity to teach online on its 7 week (PS6) pre-sessional course this summer. You would be responsible for a mixture of asynchronous and synchronous sessions with small groups of students (maximum group size is 16).
This is a six-week course preceded by one week of induction work, which will comprise a three-day (Monday to Wednesday) intensive tutor induction and two orientational teaching days (Thursday and Friday) during the student induction.

7-weeks (PS6) including student and tutor induction: Monday 30th June – Friday 15th August 2025.
All our teachers will receive a competitive salary, and they will be working as part of a dynamic and experienced team of fellow teachers at one of the country’s top Universities. All teachers must be based in the UK*.
This is a full time 35hr working week position. Duties include:
– Engagement in a one-week tutor induction
– 15 hrs contact teaching per week divided between two groups of students (mostly PG)
– Delivery of in-house material
– Preparation and provision of regular feedback to students
– Conducting 1-1 or small group student tutorials
– Engagement in training and regular meetings
A competitive salary offer, including holiday pay:
The salary for tutors on PS6 this summer will be £5,348.60. This represents point 32 on the University of Bristol salary scale, which will be £40,497 per annum pro-rata. Please note that this is before any deductions (tax, NI, pension etc) and includes holiday pay.
Candidates for these posts are required to have a minimum of a first degree and a DELTA (or equivalent), and a Masters in a relevant subject, as well as previous experience of teaching on pre-sessional courses. In return for your effort and commitment on what is a very intensive course, we hope to provide a supportive and collaborative environment in which you will continue to develop as an EAP practitioner.
For those who are interested in the BALEAP fellowship scheme, we have TEAP assessors in-house to carry out observations for your TEAP portfolio.

For online delivery, all tutors will be required to have:
– a desktop computer or laptop (Mac or PC)
– a reliable highspeed internet connection
and the ability to interact effectively with students in an online learning environment.
We recommend that teachers have access to a headset with a microphone for use during online teaching sessions. Furthermore, an external screen (in addition to the laptop) would be an advantage.
Employment Status
*This appointment is conditional on you being able to travel to and carry out your duties within the United Kingdom for the duration of your contract. If you are not able to travel to the United Kingdom to carry out your duties, or you cease to be able to carry out your duties in the United Kingdom during your contract, then your employment will cease with immediate effect and without further notice.
It is also a condition of your appointment that you have the right to work in the United Kingdom and to do the type of work that you have been appointed to undertake. This appointment is invalid if you do not have authority to work within the UK.
