Pre-sessional EAP Tutor

In summer 2022, the Centre is offering innovative 10- and 6-week summer pre-sessional courses focused on self-directed and problem-based learning. We are offering suitably qualified and experienced EAP practitioners the opportunity to teach on these pre-sessional courses. All our teachers will receive a competitive salary, annual leave entitlement and the option of city-centre accommodation. They will be working as part of a dynamic and experienced team of fellow teachers at one of the country’s top Universities.

There will be both online and on-campus options for both the 10- and 6-week pre-sessional courses, which both include a mixture of asynchronous and synchronous sessions. All teachers must be based in the UK for both online and on-campus options*.

Dates, including induction:
11 weeks (PS10) including student and tutor induction: Monday 13th June – Friday 26th August 2022.
For the on-campus provision, teachers can choose to arrive to take up University accommodation on Wednesday 15th of June.

7-weeks (PS6) including student and tutor induction: Monday 11th July – Friday 26th August 2022.
For the on-campus provision, teachers can choose to arrive to take up University accommodation on Wednesday 13th of July.

This is a full time 35hr working week position. Duties include:

  • Engagement in a one-week tutor induction
  • 17.5hrs contact teaching per week divided between two groups of students (mostly PG)
  • Delivery of in-house material
  • Preparation and provision of regular feedback to students
  • Conducting 1-1 or small group student tutorials
  • Engagement in training and cluster group activities
  • Engagement in CPD development events

The Centre is run on the principles of collaboration, development, transparency, transferability, autonomy and reflexivity at all levels within our community. For those who are interested in the BALEAP fellowship scheme, we have TEAP assessors in-house to carry out observations for your TEAP portfolio. If you feel you would benefit from further development in EAP teaching, please check the website for details or contact teap-enquiries@bristol.ac.uk to express interest and register for one of our TEAP courses.

You will be sent relevant details once accommodation is confirmed and lets will be agreed with the accommodation office on a first-come-first-served basis. Priority for accommodation will be given to on-campus teachers not living locally. We regret we cannot accommodate families in these facilities; all accommodation is single occupancy.
