We are looking to recruit experienced and committed tutors to deliver English for Academic Purposes (EAP) classes on our summer Pre-sessional English courses, which this year will be delivered wholly online. These Pre-sessional courses prepare students for entry to their degree programme through development of academic language and skills.
We are seeking tutors for our Pre-sessional English (PSE) Online Award, as well as for the new online versions of our Summer 10 and 5 week courses. All online tutors should be familiar with using a VLE such as Moodle to support teaching, and with using Microsoft Teams for teaching.
A full induction, course syllabus and materials are provided, and you will work under the guidance of a Course Leader. There will also be opportunities for CPD during the course. All our face-to-face Pre-sessional English courses have been accredited by BALEAP.
Please note that we can only consider applications from tutors who already have eligibility to work in the UK as these posts will not be eligible for sponsorship under tier 2.
Course Description
Coventry University has a Gold Rating for Teaching Excellence (TEF), is the UK’s highest ranking modern university (Guardian University Guide 2019), and is University of the Year for Student Experience (Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019).
The Pre-sessional English (PSE) programme is a University-wide programme which has attracted students from approximately 50 different counties and is well placed to be part of a truly international experience for our students.
The main destination degree courses for PSE students are International Business and other business-related subject degrees, with substantial numbers also taking engineering and computing courses, and increasing numbers taking Art and Design, or media related courses. Progression rates onto these courses from PSE is currently around 97%.
Course dates
We are recruiting EAP tutors for the courses listed below. Please note that due to the current circumstances, the dates are yet to be finalised, and include an induction period and administrative days for report writing which are paid and require full attendance. A pro rata holiday entitlement is paid at the end of the course.
PSE Online Award: 11th May – 4th September 2020
Summer 10 week /Summer 15 Block 2: 16th June – 4th September 2020
Summer 5 week: 21st July – 4th September 2020
Please note applicants must be available for the entire duration of the course.

Qualifications
• Applicants should hold a good first degree and a recognised TEFL qualification (e.g. CELTA, CertTrinity TESOL) as a minimum
• Applicants with a TEAP qualification, a DELTA and/or a master’s in Applied Linguistics/TESOL are particularly encouraged to apply
• Experience of teaching on EAP/pre-sessional and/or in-sessional courses, preferably in a UK university context, is desirable.

Remuneration will be at £28,597 – £35,196 pro rata depending on qualifications and experience.
