The International Study and Language Institute (ISLI) has been one of the University’s fifteen academic Schools since 2013, and it has a longstanding reputation for its expertise in English language teaching and assessment. Our PSE Programme is accredited by BALEAP, the global forum for EAP professionals, and takes a genre approach as well as an integrated approach to developing academic language skills. • An experienced and supportive team of colleagues in leadership roles and returning teachers

Main duties and responsibilities

• Attend a three-day teacher induction to understand the context, principles, content, and procedures of the programme
• Teach EAP to international students so that they are equipped with academic English language skills necessary for their degree destination
• Teach two groups of students (face-to-face and online) to fulfil the School’s operational needs
• Teach by using the provided materials so that the intended learning outcomes are met satisfactorily
• Keep accurate records of students’ attendance and engagement so that University and UKVI compliance is adhered to
• Deliver tutorials to students to provide academic support
• Attend weekly staff meetings to keep informed of key aspects of the programme
• Liaise with staff members via relevant communication platforms so that potential issues are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner
• Attend standardisation training sessions for formative and summative assessments to ensure that quality assurance standards are applied consistently
• Apply marking criteria and provide appropriate feedback on written and oral coursework so that students understand their performance and areas for improvement
• Assist in the administration and marking of exit tests so that students’ language proficiency is further assessed
• Engage with continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities, including being observed once, so that own teaching practice is informed by research and reflection
• Provide end-of-programme feedback in order to contribute to the evaluation of the programme
