We are seeking well-qualified, experienced EAP teachers for our on-campus and online Pre-sessional programmes. Our courses are BALEAP accredited and all curricula and assessments are designed in-house.
Teaching material is provided in full and staff are scaffolded via weekly meetings and ongoing peer and co-ordinator support. Included is an initial week-long induction (see start dates below) that covers the principles underpinning the programme, our VLEs, and an overview of the curriculum.

10-Week UG On-campus (04/07–16/09/2022)
10-Week PG On-campus (04/07–16/09/2022)
6-Week PG Online (11/07–26/08/2022)
6-Week UG On-campus (01/08/–16/09/2022)
6-Week PG On-campus (01/08/–16/09/2022)
You will be expected to deliver approximately 15 contact hours with around 16-18 hours of preparation and marking, and 2-4 hours of meetings per week. The balance of work will depend on the mode of delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and deliver EAP classes using the materials and guidance provided
• Become familiar with course content, including all reading texts
• Give timely, effective written and verbal feedback on student work
• Work closely with colleagues to assess student work
• Complete online registers daily
• Attend weekly teachers’ meetings
• Meet deadlines for marking and entering student grades and feedback
Person Specification:
Please note: For online programmes, all teachers must have suitable equipment, services and working environment. This includes a stable broadband connection of at least 10MBPS download/2 MBPS upload speed, good quality earphones with mic, and a laptop or PC with the following minimum specifications:
Processor: Modern Intel i5, AMD Ryzen 5 or equivalent
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64 or Apple MacOS 10.15.x (Catalina) or higher
Memory: 8GB or higher
Storage: 256GB SSD or higher
Webcam: Integrated HD webcam
Essential:
• RSA CELTA (or equivalent)
• Good undergraduate degree or equivalent
• At least 2 years relevant teaching experience
• MA in Applied Linguistics (or equivalent) and/or RSA DELTA (or equivalent) and/or significant, relevant EAP teaching experience with MA/DELTA in progress
• Understanding of the demands and conventions of HE study and how these differ across academic levels and disciplines
• Knowledge of a range of EAP teaching methodologies and ability to exploit these appropriately in on-campus/online contexts
• Ability to work effectively with the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Teams), Blackboard VLE and other relevant learning technologies
• Willingness to engage in peer and evaluative observations
• Willingness to work as part of an international team
Desirable:
• Experience of teaching EAP in the UK HE context
• Experience of teaching online
• Awareness of the BALEAP Competency Framework for Teachers of EAP (CFTEAP) and its relevance to professional practice. We also welcome applications from teachers working towards BALEAP TEAP accreditation
• Evidence of engagement with EAP scholarship
We offer £742.06/wk plus 12.07% holiday pay.
