Online Pre-sessional Tutors – English for Academic Purposes

Job Details

We are seeking qualified and experienced EAP tutors with a first degree, DELTA (or equivalent) and/or CELTA (or equivalent) plus relevant MA for the online delivery of our BALEAP accredited summer Online Pre-sessional Academic English and Study Skills programme.

Qualifications:
TEFLQ status as recognised by the British Council, e.g. CELTA or equivalent (essential) and
DELTA or equivalent and / or relevant MA (essential)

Course dates:

• Pre-sessional Modules 1-3: Induction from May 19 – 21 2021, with teaching from May 24 – August 13 2021
• Pre-sessional Modules 2-3: Induction from June 16 – 18 2021, with teaching from June 21 – August 13 2021

Please note that all tutors must be available for the full period of the course.

Job Salary & Benefits

Grade 6 Point 5:
£31,866 pro rata (plus a payment after the end of the teaching period in lieu of annual leave of £1,223.6 for May 19 – August 13 contracts, or £829.79 for June 16 – August 13 contracts.
or
Grade 6 Point 8:
£34,804 pro rata (plus a payment after the end of the teaching period in lieu of annual leave of £1,336.41 for May 19 – August 13 contracts, or £906.30 for June 16 – August 13 contracts.

Salaries offered would depend on qualifications and experience.

Further Information

Due to COVID-19, Pre-sessional 2021 will be delivered fully online, and tutor positions will be designed for remote working from home. Tutors will be required to have a computer or laptop with a web cam, and a reliable internet connection. The online course will be supported by self-study on Moodle, and live teaching sessions conducted on Zoom.

For tutors who will be resident in the UK for the duration of the induction and teaching period, you will be issued with an employment contract and be subject to UK tax and NI. For tutors who will not be resident in the UK for the duration of the induction and teaching period, you will be engaged on a self-employed basis and will be required to submit invoices to the University on a monthly basis. Payments will be in Pound Sterling into a nominated UK or overseas bank account. You will also be responsible for filing a tax return with the relevant tax authorities in your country of residence.

Due to the complex nature of the Pre-sessional course we request that applicants do not have any pre-existing leave requirements as this cannot be facilitated.
