Various hours available to start in September 2018 or January 2019

Salary: £ 48.72 per hour

QA Higher Education works in partnership with Northumbria University to manage and deliver International Foundation Programmes (IFP) and a Graduate Certificate / Graduate Diploma in Business. Successful completion of the IFP programmes allows entry onto a range of undergraduate programmes at Northumbria University. The Graduate Certificate in Business is a pre-master’s programme and successful completion allows entry onto a range of postgraduate programmes at Northumbria University.

These preparation programmes help international students to develop their academic skills, English language, become familiar with the academic culture, become part of the Northumbria University community and settle into Newcastle upon Tyne and the North East of England. Teaching for these programmes will take place at Northumbria University in Newcastle.

QA Higher Education is seeking staff to work on zero hour contracts (various hours potentially available). Please note that all staff need to be based in the region or be within reasonable commutable distance given the nature of the hours potentially on offer. EAP Lecturers will contribute to the teaching of English for Academic Purposes on the International Foundation Programme and Graduate Diploma starting in either September 2018 or January 2019. Staff would teach across a range of modules that cover language development and skills, intercultural communication, global studies and research skills. The Pathway College works under British Council accreditation and as such all teachers would be expected to contribute and maintain our high standards.

Candidates should have:
TEFLQ status (e.g. a DELTA or MA in TESOL / Applied Linguistics)*
Experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes to international students
Experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes at level 3 and level 6
A BA / BSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant area
An MA / MSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant area
Ideally, candidates will have experience of teaching in a UK HE environment

*There are other acceptable combinations of qualifications that are acceptable as TEFLQ. Please refer to the British Council accreditation handbook or contact Steven Herron for further information.

Job Salary & Benefits

£48.72 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Successful candidates will be invited to interview in Newcastle (Skype is not possible) in week commencing 10th September. The interview process will involve preparation of a task provided before the interview day (around 31st August) to be submitted by 6th September. Please note that expenses cannot be paid.
