Salary, Grade 7/8, £37,474 – £42,155 / £46,047 – £53,353 per annum

The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a full-time permanent Lecturer (Research and Teaching, Grade 7/8) in English for Academic Purposes within English for Academic Study (EAS) in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated and talented research active academic who can bring research expertise in the broad area of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). In developing academic excellence and contributing to research-led teaching, the post holder will complement both our established reputation for excellent in EAP-related teaching and course design, and our rising profile in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL).

The successful candidate will have academic experience relevant to EAP and will be able to contribute to our EAP-related provision, TESOL programmes, supervision of doctoral students, research funding applications, and produce high quality outputs submittable to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). The successful candidate will contribute to the wider field of EAP nationally and internationally to develop and enhance the EAP research profile of the School/College and ensure that the University of Glasgow’s EAP research activities are at the forefront of the field.

The School is also interested in applications that demonstrate pathways to Impact, and where research is cross-disciplinary and/ or engaged in responding to global challenges.

You may find it useful to look at the research output expectations at grade 7 and/or 8:

Grade 7: A record of scholarly output over career to date which includes at least 4 outputs in the most recent 6-year period. At least 2 of these outputs should meet the REF criteria for 3* of better, with the potential that one or more could be graded as 4*.

Grade 8: A record of scholarly output over career to date which includes at least 4 outputs in the most recent 6-year period that meet the REF criteria 3* or better, with the potential that one or more could be graded as 4*.
