The International Summer School at the University of Liverpool is based within the English Language Centre and is looking to appoint an external examiner to moderate the assessment process and have oversight of all modules, delivered on the ISS.
About the International Summer School: The ISS is a six-week programme offering level 4 accredited modules across a range of subject areas. Modules that run will take place on-campus, with the exception of two 15-credit modules that will delivered solely online. Credit value of modules: 5 or 15 credits.
In order to apply for ISS students are:
· at postgraduate or undergraduate level at a university worldwide or have completed an undergraduate degree at a university worldwide
· aged 18 or over
· have a minimum English language level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent
The role of an external examiner on ISS requires knowledge and understanding specifically relating to HE summer school programmes and UK sector-agreed maintenance of academic standards and assurance and enhancement of quality. There is no expectation that the successful candidate will have knowledge of the academic disciplines taught on ISS, as all assessments are internally moderated by subject specialists. The external examiner is required only to report on the assessment process and overall range and distribution of marks awarded.
