Job Details

Teesside University is a vibrant, modern university in the North East of England, with a reputation for academic excellence and for an outstanding and stimulating student and learning experience, informed by engagement with research, business and the professions. Our wide range of study options are supported by a commitment to investing in our campus and facilities, with £300m to be spent over the next ten years. We have set out an ambitious programme of transformation that will drive academic innovation and deliver excellence for our students, partners and the communities we serve.

In this role you will teach general and academic English to international students and work as part of the English Language Centre team to ensure that English language support meets the requirements of the international student intake. You will provide an initial point of contact for pastoral care issues, with the ability to refer to relevant support mechanisms available to students.

The successful candidate must have a Celta/Trinity or an equivalent level qualification, as well as substantial relevant professional teaching experience (EAP, General English, supporting independent learning). The ability to teach English Language provision (EFL and EAP) is essential and you must have an understanding of professional/regulatory bodies such as the British Council. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, by being able to explain information to suit different learning styles and levels of understanding.
