Job Details

We have roles available for English Language Tutors at the University of Leeds, where you will deliver engaging, effective summer pre-sessional classes to international students at the University of Leeds. Roles available are EGAP Online; General English (GE) or English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

The dates of contracts (including 1 week induction) are:
EGAP online – 19th June to 4th August (7 weeks)
General English on campus – 26th June to 11th August (7 weeks)
EAP on campus – 24th July to 8th September (7 weeks)

The hours of work are up to full-time (37.5 hours per week), and we welcome applications from those who wish to be considered for part-time hours (please state this in your application). Please note this will be a rolling advert until all roles have been filled.

Our academically challenging courses have been designed to help our students understand and use the language and discourse of their future master’s degree, enabling them to successfully access and communicate their disciplinary knowledge and understanding.

Main duties and responsibilities:
Engagement in a one-week tutor induction.
Delivery of inspirational and innovative teaching on an assigned module following the prescribed syllabus. This will include face-to-face, and online/remote teaching as required.
Collaborating with colleagues on materials and course development and curriculum changes
Communicating assessment requirements, marking coursework and providing timely regular feedback to students
Engagement in CPD development events on offer
Acting as personal tutor and providing advice to students on matters relating to UK academic expectations.
Completing any administrative tasks related to module delivery as required.

What you will bring to the role:
Candidates for these posts are required to have a minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant field and a teaching qualification or a first degree and a diploma-level teaching qualification (or equivalent). At least one qualification must evidence an understanding of language(s) and how these can be analysed for teaching purposes

You should also have a proven track record of successful teaching of EAP and/or EFL and the ability to evidence effective language and literacy teaching skills, including a range of delivery techniques and assessment methods.

Job Salary & Benefits

Salary: Grade 7, £36,333 – £43,155 p.a. pro rata for the length of contract.
Accommodation: Accommodation is available for those who require it for the duration of contract.
