Job Details

The English Language Centre (ELC) at the University of Liverpool is accredited by BALEAP and the British Council. In its recent inspection by the British Council, the ELC was awarded 13 areas of strength and has subsequently been named an EI Gazette Centre of Excellence 2019.
The ELC is currently looking for suitably qualified EAP teachers to deliver its summer pre-sessional courses to predominantly postgraduate students holding offers for programmes across the three faculties of Humanities & Social Science, Science & Engineering, and Health & Life Sciences at its Liverpool campus. Approximately half the pre-sessional cohort will progress to postgraduate taught programmes in the University of Liverpool Management School.
The dates below are inclusive of a paid 3-day Tutor Induction:
12-week: 10th June – 6th September 2019. Students start the course on Thursday, 13th June.
10-week: 26th June – 6th September 2019. Students start the course on Monday, 1st July.
6-week: 24th July – 6th September 2019. Students start the course on Monday, 29th July.
From the 10-week intake, students are divided by disciplinary pathway: Management, or EAP (further divided into Humanities, and Science & Engineering).
Postholders will be responsible for delivering academic English and academic skills development to international students, advising students on their progress, and encouraging students to be autonomous learners. Teachers can expect to have 18 hours of contact time per week (including tutorials) and up to 1.5 hours of cover per week (as required). All materials are provided.
You will have qualifications which confer TEFL-Q status as set out in the British Council’s Accreditation UK handbook (available on the British Council’s website), and ideally have prior experience of teaching on pre-sessional or preparatory EAP programmes. You will have excellent organisational and time management skills and be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to variety of audiences. You will be an effective team player whilst also being able to work independently and on your own initiative.

Job Salary & Benefits

£33,518 p/a (pro-rata) + 16.88% annual leave
