Job Details

Tutors needed to work on our 12-week presessional programmes.

Course dates: Wednesday 13th June until Friday 7th September (inclusive three days paid induction 13th – 15th June).

Job role
• 18 teaching hours plus preparation and marking per week
• Delivering in-house materials and providing regular feedback on assessments for student portfolios.
• Preparing students for end-of-course STEAP exam
• Acting as a personal tutor for tutees
• Attend team meetings and CPD sessions as required
• Attend all student trips and excursions

Job Salary & Benefits

Grade APM 7 – £28,936.00 per annum (pro-rata if part time) together with USS pension benefits, if required.
The normal expectation is that the successful applicant will be appointed to the minimum of the scale with annual increments on 1 August each year (subject to completing six months service).

Person specification:
Essential Criteria
1. A degree or equivalent in a related subject
2. CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) qualification
3. Demonstrate the ability to teach and supervising students successfully
4. To work as an effective member of the staff team responsible for managing educational provision in the Department of ELTS.
5. Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and be developing further skills in, and knowledge of teaching methods and techniques
6. Excellent organisation skills to plan own day to day activities within the framework of the agreed programme
7. Demonstrate experience of or ability to be able to develop and co-ordinate courses in the subject area
8. Excellent Interpersonal and Oral Communication skills to be able to engage and enthuse students
9. Excellent written skills

Desirable Criteria
10. TEFL Diploma
11. Evidence of commitment to Continuing Professional Development
12. Demonstrate a degree of flexibility in work patterns. Tutors may need to be reactive with regards to changes in timetable which may be at short notice.
13. Punctual and willing to work outside contracted hours if a trip or social event requires you to do so.
14. The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh
