Job Details

The Centre for Academic Language and Development at the University of Bristol is growing rapidly. We are currently seeking to appoint to a number of permanent English for Academic Purposes roles for a January 2020 start.

As the Centre evolves with the demands of UK Higher Education, the co-ordination role is unlikely to stay exactly the same; hence, an interest in all aspects of the Centre’s provision (and an awareness of this potential) is important. The role will initially involve co-ordination of our credit-bearing provision for current students in Learning English and Academic Development , and other other short courses. As well as teaching, the co-ordinator role includes both task and line management responsibilities, alongside course development. It’s a given that you’re qualified and have sufficient experience to persuade our team of tutors to follow you. You will be surrounded by extremely able colleagues and will work with a supportive management team. Saying that, it’s likely you will think there’s too much to do, so it’s key that you know from the start that an ability to juggle workload at the same time as helping tutors do the same is vital. You will be working towards a claim for a BALEAP TEAP Senior fellowship.

Job Salary & Benefits

£44,045 – £49,553 pro rata per annum

We aspire to be a cutting-edge centre that works with all individuals to develop their communication in academic contexts. To do this we work in line with 6 principles: development, reflexivity, transparency, autonomy, collaboration and transferability. If you feel that these principles are a good fit for your own, then we look forward to receiving an application from you detailing how you can contribute to the Centre’s success. In turn, we will work with you to further your development as an EAP practitioner.

If you do not have line management and course development experience, you might be more suited to our advertisement for EAP tutors.

Please have a good look at our website to get a feel for what we do and how we do it. The application should go through the main University of Bristol website
