This role is to provide dissertation support for students studying the Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL). Successful applicants will also be expected to mark and second mark dissertations of these students.
Duties and responsibilities
• Comment on proposal forms
• Provide advice on research methods, including research ethics
• Provide 3 hours in total of tutorial support, either face-to-face or a combination of face-to-face and online support
• Provide detailed feedback on a draft submission (this would usually take place in August)
• Mark and second mark papers and engage in moderation activities in September
• Successful applicants will be expected to take on between 10-20 students and be expected to have a maximum of 14 hours with each student over the period, this includes all work such as contact hours and marking
Skills and experience
• A post-graduate degree in TESOL or a related discipline essential
• Experience in supervising students on MA-Level dissertations (15,000 words)
• Experience of using a visual learning environment (e.g. Moodle) to support students and hand in their drafts and assignments
£25.52 per hour, plus £3.08 holiday pay per hour.
14 hours work per student, therefore total pay over £350 per student plus holiday pay.
