Job Details

Cranfield is an exclusively postgraduate University that is a global leader for education and transformational research in technology and management.

The Centre for Androgogy and Academic Skills (CAAS) covers a wide variety of areas including English Language courses and is seeking to appoint a number of English Language Tutors to teach on our 2019 summer Presessional programme.

Subsidised accommodation is available for Presessional Tutors whose permanent residence is more than 30 miles from Cranfield University.

Programme Dates and Tutor Induction:
There will be a paid induction for tutors at the start of the programme, which is included in the programme dates below:

10-week Presessional 10th July – 20th September 2019 (3-day induction included)
5-week Presessional 14th August – 20th September 2019 (3-day induction included)

To be successful, you should have an undergraduate degree or equivalent with a relevant Teaching Diploma e.g. Cambridge ESOL DELTA, Trinity Dip TESOL or relevant MA/MSc. You should have knowledge of ELT within the context of English for Academic Purposes and Higher Education, together with an awareness of assessment techniques for writing and speaking skills, and providing effective feedback.

You will have experience in a relevant area of English Language Teaching including some experience of English for Academic Purposes. Ideally, you will have experience in teaching international students from different cultural and language backgrounds.

You will be expected to deliver teaching sessions, and contribute to team-taught course units and have the ability to mark written work, presentations, projects, and assessments with reference to language and study skills, and provide appropriate feedback to students.

You will be required to supervise student work, provide advice on study skills, and assist with learning difficulties. You will be expected to take on specific administrative activities, paying due regard to detail and timekeeping.

Job Salary & Benefits

£21.70 per hour, 37 hours per week (16-18 hours teaching per week plus 1:1 tutorials)
