About The Job:

Interview Date: Week Commencing 17 February 2020

The University of Northampton is seeking to appoint experienced EAP teachers to contribute to the delivery of its summer 2020 Pre-Sessional English programme.

Teachers will be involved in all aspects of Pre-Sessional provision (including the planning and delivery of classes, student feedback and support) and will be expected to teach 20 hours per week and attend weekly staff meetings and development sessions. Teachers must commit for the entire duration of the course.

All Associate Lecturers take part in a formal observation which aims to open up a dialogue about TEAP practice and development.

PEP EAP 6-week course
29th July 2020 – 16th Sept 2020
(Including induction days)

The University can provide free campus accommodation on a first-come-first-served basis.

About You

Applicants must have a first degree and a CELTA (or equivalent). A DELTA (or equivalent), TEAP qualification and/or a Master’s degree in a cognate subject (e.g. TESOL, Applied Linguistics) is highly desirable.

You should have significant experience in EFL and/or EAP with experience of developing/adapting teaching materials to ensure alignment with programme learning outcomes.

You should have experience of conducting and marking formative and summative assessments, and providing high quality feedback to students and have the ability to complete teaching related administrative tasks accurately and efficiently. Experience of using a VLE to support achievement and enhance student learning as well as experience providing academic , study skills and pastoral support for students is highly desirable.

Qualifications

Essential:

First degree (any discipline) or equivalent relevant experience.
A recognised TEFL qualification.
Desirable:

Diploma in English Language Teaching for Adults (DELTA) (or equivalent).
TEAP qualification.
Master’s degree in a cognate subject (e.g. TESOL, Applied Linguistics)
Faculty/Department

Educational Linguistics sits within the Faculty of Health, Society and Education. It has designed the pre-sessional to reflect innovative practice in EAP teaching and assessment.

As well as running the pre-sessional the department also runs MA and BA programmes and the CELTA.

Job Salary & Benefits

£35.02 – £43.02 per hour (including holiday pay)
