You will teach on our well-established summer pre-sessional course, for which all teaching materials and assessments will be provided.
Duties in Brief
• To carry out on average 35 hours of teaching and teaching-related duties per week, noting that the workload may be higher in some weeks and lower and others.
• To ensure that all aspects of delivery, both teaching and teaching-related, meet the stated aims and learning outcomes and contribute towards the implementation of relevant academic initiatives to ensure best practice within the EGAP/ESAP field.
• To ensure all teaching-related administration, e.g. attendance, work records, reports and tutorial forms etc., is completed accurately and according to departmental guidelines.
• To use formative assessment to provide feedback to students and to inform the development of teaching and assessment materials within ELC’s framework.
• To comply with rules and internal procedures when delivering/invigilating/conducting and marking tests and exams/assessments, and to contribute to and engage with internal and external quality assurance procedures (benchmarking, standardisation and moderation).
• To report to the relevant line manager, team leader and coordinator.
• To display willingness to support other colleagues and participate in team meetings and CPD sessions as required by the ELC Director and/or Senior Academic Leads or their nominees.
SALARY
• 7th June to 31st July £37,386 pro-rata + 16.88% holiday pay*
• 1st August to 18th August £38,205 pro-rata + 16.88% holiday pay
Holiday pay is added as the policy is that holiday requests during the contract period will only be permitted in exceptional circumstances, and with the relevant salary deductions.
LIVING ACCOMMODATION
University accommodation will be available for all tutors regardless of whether they have opted to teach online or on-campus. Any tutors who wish to utilise University accommodation will be housed in a single study room in Crown Place. The normal weekly cost to University staff to stay in Crown Place this year is £159.53 but the ELC will subsidise this so you only pay £125 per week.
