Job Details

Coventry University London is embarking on an exciting and ambitious project to embed in-sessional Academic English provision into undergraduate degree courses to better support our linguistically diverse cohort to succeed in their studies by developing their academic language and skills.

We’re looking to recruit a qualified and experienced Course Leader (0.6FTE) to lead on this provision under the guidance of an Associate Director, and manage an established EGAP in-sessional provision. You should have a DELTA (or equivalent) and/or Postgraduate degree in TESOL, ELT or Applied Linguistics (or other relevant area), experience of teaching on and developing EAP courses in UK higher education, ideally with a focus on in-sessional provision, and experience of supporting and line managing tutors. The Course Leader will also be responsible for developing and administering the university’s post-entry language and skills assessment, so experience of designing and developing language tests is desirable.

In-sessional courses are currently online, face-to-face and blended. You should be competent with technology and tools for online teaching and have some experience designing online learning resources. Excellent admin, IT, time management and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to reach out and build relationships across departments and faculties.

Offering a range of business-related UG and PG degrees, Coventry University London has a Gold Rating for Teaching Excellence (TEF) and has been shortlisted for University of the Year (The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021). Based in the heart of the city with a student body and a staffing base that represent more than 100 nationalities, you will enjoy working in a fast-paced multi-cultural environment within a community committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. You will be based at the London Campus, but will work closely with colleagues in the wider team and across the CU Group.

Qualifications
Applicants should hold a DELTA (or equivalent) and/or a Postgraduate degree in TESOL, ELT or Applied Linguistics (or other relevant area).
Applicants with a TEAP qualification, BALEAP and/or HEA Associate Fellow, Fellow or Senior Fellow status are particularly encouraged to apply.
Experience of developing and delivering EAP courses (preferably in-sessional), preferably in a UK university context, is desirable.

Job Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: £35,831 – £39,164 (pro-rata) depending on qualifications and experience, plus London weighting.
