One full-time English Language Teacher post
Applications are invited for one full time post of English language teacher at NUIST Reading Academy, Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST), Jiangsu Province, People’s Republic of China.
NUIST Reading Academy is a joint venture between the University of Reading in the UK and the NUIST in China. The Academy aims to provide high quality education to students in China. The Academy currently offers four undergraduate programmes: Applied Chemistry, International Economics and Trade, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, and Environmental Engineering.
The post is based in the modern city of Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, with easy access to public transportation, convenient stores, hospitals etc.
The post holder’s main duties will be to teach students during their first and second year at NUIST Reading Academy. The students are required to achieve an IELTS 6.5 by the end of the second academic year.
Job Type: Full Time post of NUIST Reading Academy.
Salary: 10,000 RMB per month (before tax); International travel allowance: 9000 RMB per year.

Purpose of role:
The NUIST Reading Academy delivers English for academic purposes and academic study skills development in support of the students enrolled in joint programmes between the two instituions. Working as part of a close-knit team, the English language teacher has four main areas of responsibility:
Main Responsibilities:
Organize effective learning activities;
Provide students with useful IELTS strategies and vocabulary, suitable for an IELTS test;
Motivate students to engage in learning, and help them to improve the quality of their work;
Support colleagues in English events such as English Corners.
Person Specification
Essential
Advanced level of proficiency and communicative competence in English;
Relevant TEFL/TESOL qualification (eg teaching diploma such as DELTA certified by Cambridge English Language Assessment or Trinity College London, or PGCE with TESOL or equivalent in China) ;
BA in Applied Linguistics, English Language Teaching or other relevant discipline;
At least 2 years’ experience of teaching and assessing English language at undergraduate level;
Experience of the administration of courses and modules in British / Western universities;
Excellent organisation, communication and inter-personal skills;
Ability to work under pressure;
An excellent team player;
A willingness to work flexibly as required;
Keen to develop professionally by engaging with capacity building activities provided by the Academy.
Desirable
Native English speaker;
Experience of teaching and assessment of undergraduate students in a Chinese university environment;
Previous experience teaching IELTS.
