Job Details

The Preparation for Academic Studies in Higher Education (PASHE) programme is an academically challenging and intensive blended course that runs in the summer for 12, 8, and 6 weeks. We are currently looking to appoint Teaching Fellows for the 8 week course only (4 July – 7 September 2018).

The course dates include three full days of paid induction on the Wednesday to Friday immediately before the students’ arrival. The students are preparing for entry to UCL Institute of Education’s postgraduate programmes, at both Master’s and Doctoral level. Students are aiming for UCL ‘Good’ to Advanced’ levels of English (equivalent to IELTS 7.0 – 7.5).

Teaching Fellows provide up to 21 hours of teaching per week, which includes classroom teaching, tutorials and other academic activities. They will follow the PASHE syllabus, addressing the Programme Learning Outcomes, to prepare students for postgraduate study on UCL Institute of Education’s Master’s and Doctoral programmes, assessing student progress and attainment, as well as promoting and directing personal and independent learning through one-to-one tutorials.

They will also have strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and manage preparation and marking time effectively. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, they will be able to deal effectively with students and colleagues in a culturally aware and respectful manner.
