Applications are invited for the above temporary, full-time or part-time positions working in the English Language Centre for Overseas Students (ELCOS). We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated EAP teachers for our pre-sessional programme on campus in Bangor or on-line from anywhere in the UK in Summer 2026.
You will join Bangor University through our Casual Worker System and receive a guaranteed hourly payment of £27.55 for 36.25 hours per week (full time) from 20th July to 4th September. This rate is inclusive of holiday pay. We welcome applications from tutors wishing to work fewer hours.
ELCOS will support you by providing a detailed but flexible syllabus and one-week paid induction. Although you may be based anywhere in the UK, you will have regular online contact from the ELCOS team and find us a friendly, supportive bunch.
Duties include:
• teaching on our on-campus or online pre sessional English course.
• weekly assignment marking and providing detailed feedback.
• administering and marking of final examinations.
• attendance at induction and coordination and standardisation meetings.
Candidates should:
• have TEFLQ status, possessing either ELT Diploma or a master’s degree in a relevant subject.
• have significant experience teaching EAP.
• be familiar with online meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams for teaching.
• be confident with a wide range of multimedia systems including GenAI and provide evidence of integrating them with teaching and learning.
For online teaching you will need a quiet professional space to work from and to supply your own hardware and internet connection with these specifications as minimum:
• Windows 10 on 64-bit platform or Mac OS X 10.15.
• CPUs newer than 2011 (Intel Sandy Bridge or newer).
• Open GL 2.0 graphics driver or better.
• Local storage of 10Gbs.
• Web camera and microphone.
• Broadband 4mbps.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.
