We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated English Language Tutors to join our team. This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the success of pre undergraduate and postgraduate students as they prepare for their academic journey at the University of Sheffield. Our Pre-Sessional English Summer Programmes are designed to equip students with the academic English Language and literacy skills necessary for their degree courses. All our Pre-sessional programmes are accredited by BALEAP and the British Council, highlighting our dedication to excellence. We are planning to offer on-campus (OC) and online (OL) Programmes. The on-campus posts are based in Sheffield. For the online posts, tutors will need to be based in the UK. To access lessons & course content for any blended and online provision of the pre-sessional courses you will need:
- a modern laptop or desktop computer in very good working order (Windows 11 or macOS Tahoe 26.1 preferred)
- a headset (strongly recommended) or headphones and a microphone
- a webcam at least 1280 x 720 resolution (strongly recommended)
- fast internet connection (30 Mbps minimum upload speed); wired internet connection using ethernet cable (strongly recommended)
- smartphone running either Android 11.0+ or iOS 16.0+ and greater (for security - MFA - multi factor authentication)
Online 10-week (incl induction week): Monday 15th June - Friday 28th August (11 weeks)
On-campus 10-week (incl induction week): Monday 15th June - 28th August (11 weeks)
Online 6-week (incl induction week): Monday 13th July - Friday 28th August (7 weeks)
On-campus 6-week (incl induction week): Monday 13th July - Friday 28th August (7 weeks)
Other periods of work within these dates may also be available.
Salary and benefits
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
Salary Grade 7: £38,784 to £42,254 per annum pro-rata.
Position on the scale will depend on qualifications and experience.
As we need our teachers throughout the programme, holidays are paid at the end of the contract.
Posts are fixed-term and full time
PSE teaching is usually scheduled between 09:00 and 16:00, Monday to Friday.
For teachers from outside the area working on the on campus courses we can offer free self-catering University accommodation.
