Job Purpose
Deliver high quality pre-sessional English course to students who are aspiring to study in an English-speaking academic environment.

Working hours: 10-15 contact hours per week/10-15 admin hours per week

Key Responsibilities

Teaching
- Deliver engaging and student-centred lessons with the aim of achieving course objectives and to the standards outlined in the teaching induction.
- Use in-house materials effectively and adapt to suit students’ needs and abilities.
- Manage classes of 10-12 students effectively to allow each student to experience academically fulfilling environment.
- Encourage autonomous learning and prepare students for university study.
- Deliver individual or small group tutorials to ensure students are informed of their progress or the lack of thereof.
- Use Zoom to deliver live classes, utilising features such as screen-sharing and breakout rooms to maximise interaction
- Use Moodle to access course materials and track students’ progress and engagement

Academic Administration
- Keep up-to-date attendance records.
- Comment on students’ progress and achievements in tutorials or in writing
- Mark assignments and provide feedback.
- Ensure all relevant class material is accessible to students in timely fashion.
- Be available for some asynchronous student support via email / MS Teams.

Other
- Attend teaching induction (online)
- Attend a weekly teachers’ meeting and scheduled CPD sessions.
-Communicate effectively with the head office management if and when required.

Person Specification

Legal status
- Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent 
- Proficient use of English in speaking and writing. 

Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in any discipline 
- CELTA. Trinity TESOL and / or QTS in English or a Modern Foreign Language with ELT subsidiary 
- DELTA or Trinity Dip. TESOL or MA TESOL (Desirable)
             
Experience and knowledge
- Teaching experience across a variety of levels. 
- Experience teaching PSE or EAP 
- Experience of establishing and maintaining effective academic administration systems and quality assurance procedures 
- Some previous experience with online delivery 
- Experience of working in a university PSE setting or equivalent. (Desirable)
- Experience of using a variety of platforms for online delivery (Desirable)
- Experience with language exams – systems and student preparation. (Desirable)


Skills and Abilities

- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written. 
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise. 
- Experience of delivering lessons confidently and effectively. 
- Good numeracy and literacy skills. 
- A sound knowledge of Microsoft office with good IT skills. 
- Ability to supervise and motivate learners. (Desirable)
- Ability to function and communicate in a multicultural environment. (Desirable)

- Have a positive and proactive attitude to work.
- Demonstrate high levels of professionalism.
- A drive to work collaboratively with fun, likeminded people and contribute to team success.
- To be constantly aware of improving standards and adapt to them where possible.
