Job details
Locations: Xi'an and Jinan
Term: Full Time engagement with an immediate start
Why This Role Matters:
At the Australia Institute of Future Education (AIFE), we exist to empower academic professionals around the world through high‑quality, relevant professional development, delivered by leading education practitioners using blended, progressive teaching methods. Our mission is to help early‑ and mid‑career academics reach their full career potential and become leaders within their institutions and communities.
As an International Academic EAP, you play a key role in this mission. By supporting university students in China to develop strong academic English foundations, you help open pathways to international learning, global mobility and long‑term academic success. You'll collaborate with supportive colleagues, engage with motivated students and contribute to an educational experience that aligns with AIFE's vision of uplifting global academic capability and inspiring lifelong learning.
This is a role for educators who value cultural exchange, meaningful student impact, and the chance to be part of a growing international higher‑education ecosystem.
What You'll Do:
You'll teach AIFE's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) curriculum to first-third year university students. Your days will include:
* Delivering prepared lessons that build students' academic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills
* Working in a friendly co‑teaching model with a Chinese colleague
* Encouraging students through tutorials, English‑corner activities and day‑to‑day conversations
* Supporting students as they prepare for AIFE's Direct Entry Program (DEP), which helps them transition to overseas universities
*Working collaboratively as part of the AIFE/AEMG branch community on campus
You'll have clear curricula, aligned assessments and supportive teams, so you can focus on teaching and connecting with your students.
Your Weekly Rhythm:
This is a full‑time role: 38 hours per week
* 18 - 20 hours teaching in the classroom
* 18 - 20 hours non‑teaching work, such as planning, marking, tutorials, co‑teacher meetings, English Corner and professional development
Class schedules are set at the beginning of each semester and follow a familiar university rhythm - some days are busier, others are lighter.
A Supportive Teaching Model:
You will never be left to figure things out alone. AIFE uses a co‑teaching approach, pairing you with a Chinese Teacher who teaches alternating lessons in the same course. This brings together both local understanding and international academic skills - a blend students truly benefit from.
On campus, you will have access to:
* Branch Managers
* Course Leaders
* Chinese Teachers and Learning Facilitators
* A full academic team behind the curriculum
Everyone speaks fluent English and knows what it's like to work across cultures.
Who We're Looking For:
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
* Eligibility for a Chinese Z visa
* An English‑teaching qualification (TEFL/TESOL/CELTA minimum)
* A Master's degree
* At least 3 years of EAP teaching experience, ideally in a university setting
* Strong classroom engagement skills and a student‑centred approach
* Confidence using a learning management system (LMS)
* A collaborative, adaptable, team‑focused mindset
What This Experience Offers You:
Teaching in China is more than a job - it's a chance to:
* Build deep, meaningful relationships with students
* Experience Chinese culture as part of a local community
* Explore diverse cities and regions
* Grow your teaching practice in a supportive, cross‑cultural environment
* Make a lasting impact on students preparing for their future abroad
Salary and benefits
Contract, Pay & Benefits:
You'll join AIFE as an Independent Contractor, with a monthly payment in Australian Dollars (AUD).

* Starting salary: $5,000+ AUD per month (depending on experience)
