Academic Language Support Service
Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes Tutors are required for Loughborough University online or campus-based Pre-sessional Programmes.

What we’re looking for:
• You should be a graduate with a CELTA or equivalent, ideally hold a DELTA or equivalent and / or relevant MA/MSc.
• Have significant experience teaching English language to adult learners and have an understanding of EAP.
• You must have excellent IT skills and be proficient confident in using and teaching with Microsoft Software (e.g. Word, PowerPoint), a virtual learning environment (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard) and video conferencing software – we use Microsoft Teams.
• You must be fluent in English, both written and oral, and must be able to provide effective written and oral feedback to students.
• Experience of teaching EAP year round or on a UK HEI Pre-sessional Programme would be an advantage.

For online delivery, all tutors will be required to have the following for the full duration of the course in order to be considered for a contract:
• A quiet room to work from.
• Laptop/Desktop of an appropriate specification:
o Adequate drive space and memory (to run MS Teams, download MS Office / other relevant packages and to download/upload video recordings). NB Any University related files are to be stored on One Drive rather than the local laptop/machine;
o Working speakers, webcam and a headset with a microphone for use during seminars, tutorials and meetings.
o A smartphone capable of using the Duomobile app which is required for authentication for some university software;
o A licenced and up to date version of Windows or Mac OS;
o A valid and updated version of MS Office (downloadable from Office 365 via the University website as a university employee);
o An up-to-date anti-virus/security software installed (downloadable from Office 365 via the University website as a university employee);
o The latest version of Google Chrome or Firefox.
o A stable broadband connection (minimum internet speeds - 10Mbps).
Programme Course Dates
Note, this includes tutor induction which runs over the first week. Initial contact with students Thursday/Friday. Tutors must be available for the full duration of the programme.

Salary and benefits
The position is Full Time and Fixed Term. Salary will be on Management and Specialist, Grade 6, spinal point 32, £41,064 GBP pro rata per annum.

All applicants for both online and campus-based programmes must be based in the UK for the duration of their contracts. Applicants must:
• provide evidence of their right to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2016 and the Immigration Act 2016.;
• hold a National Insurance number;
• have a UK bank or building society account.
All successful candidates, without exception, will be required to complete a 'Right to Work (RTW)' check in line with UKVI requirements at least one day prior to the start of the contract. This applies to all teachers on all programmes. There may be the requirement for the RTW check to be conducted in person.
