Context

Holland International Study Centre, based in both Amsterdam and the northern Dutch city of Groningen, offers a range of degree preparation courses to international students on a progression pathway to various university partners in the country. The centre aims to provide international students with the optimum educational preparation courses which range from International Foundation Years in Business and Science, to Pre-Masters Preparation.

Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching EAP to a variety of international students in Foundation courses and English Language courses. Holland ISC runs both in-house academic English courses along with IELTS and English skills modules focusing on specific areas of competence.
Applicants should hold a relevant teaching qualification with experience of teaching in an international classroom.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Between 23-25 contact hours
• Work with Study Group material to deliver approved modules.
• Work with the teaching team to develop and refine materials and lessons depending on the needs of students.
• Liaise with Head of English and Head of Centre as well as the wider stakeholders.
• Assess students and provide both formative and summative evaluations, providing results in a timely manner.
• Monitor and assess students’ behaviour and progression, giving feedback at scheduled times.
• Carry out recording and administrative tasks such as attendance, grades and activity logs.
• Support international students with their studies through tutorials and tailored 1-2-1’s.
• Act as a personal tutor to particular students throughout the year.
• Offer guided pastoral support, liaising with the Student Services department on the needs of the students and the requirements placed on them
• Partake in monthly training and development sessions as well as general staff meetings and events.
• Provide teaching cover in case of absences
• Work positively and constructively with all staff members/stakeholders
• Engage in the social curriculum when appropriate – events and trips.
• Act as a positive ambassador for Holland ISC, Study Group and its partners.

Qualifications

Essential
• A honours degree in a relevant subject.
• Teaching qualification: DELTA or M.A. in education OR CELTA along with appropriate experience in EAP.
• Minimum three years relevant teaching experience.
• Good organisational and IT skills

Desirable
• PGCE teaching qualification
• Experience in EAP /Study Group modules.
• Experience in IELTS
• Experience in operating Moodle/On-line educational tools

Job Salary & Benefits

From 32,500 to 40,100EUR per annum
