Job Details

The English Language Centre (ELC), which sits within Academic Partnerships at University of Plymouth, organises year-round insessional and pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes provision for University of Plymouth students whose first language is not English. In the summer the Centre requires a number of qualified and experienced EAP tutors to work on the 8 and 6-week EAP pre-sessional courses. These students will have an English language level of IELTS 5.0 and 5.5 for the eight and six week courses respectively. Those students who pass the pre-sessional then attend compulsory EAP classes throughout their first term alongside their degree programmes.

The pre-sessional courses are based on the University of Plymouth campus which is a five-minute walk from the city centre and ten from the sea. Dartmoor and Cornwall are accessible via public transport and the area has lots of other beautiful places to visit.

You will need to be a well-qualified and experienced EAP teacher with recent pre-sessional experience in a UK university. You will also be a hard-working, organised, flexible and team-working individual who can cope with an intensive workload with enthusiasm and always with a positive student experience in mind.

Qualifications:
Good first degree and CELTA or equivalent (essential);
DELTA or equivalent and /or relevant master’s (desirable).
PgCTEAP (desirable)

These posts are full-time with 20 timetabled hours teaching Monday to Friday on a fixed-term basis;

8-week course 11 July 2017 – 7 September 2017
6-week course 25 July 2017 – 7 September 2017

£29,301 to £32,004 pa pro-rata – Grade 6 (approx. £607.00 per week)
