JOB OVERVIEW

Here at the University of Huddersfield International Centre, we pride ourselves in providing a supportive learning experience that prepares our students for the challenges of undergraduate and postgraduate study. We are dedicated to providing excellent academic and English skills and knowledge that will enable our International students to progress onto their chosen programme of study at the University and an eventual successful career.

Our academic team enjoy a collaborative approach to Teaching and Learning by supporting each other in the planning, delivery and evaluation of our programmes and modules content. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to teach our academic English programmes to international students on our pathway programme for International Foundation Year, International Year 1 or Pre-Masters Programmes. You will be qualified to at least undergraduate level, have a Certificate, and preferably a Diploma, in teaching English as a Foreign Language and previous experience teaching English for academic purposes. This is a 0.5 FTE Part time permanent opportunity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Delivering modules (through teaching) to international students studying on programmes offered by the Centre and assisting with the development of modules
• Preparing module examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment, marking and providing feedback to students, including re-sit examinations
• Assisting with the development and maintenance of the Centre’s virtual learning environment (VLE). Facilitating student access to same.
• Providing input for related modules to the annual review and reporting process
• Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date record of student attendance and performance
• Providing, when/if required, academic learning support to a small number of students
• Participating in regular meetings with teaching and support staff.

EXPERIENCE

• Your approach will be student-centred, with experience teaching English for Academic Purposes.
• A DELTA/MA TESOL or equivalent is highly desirable, however, a CELTA with experience would also be considered.
• Experience teaching small classes or seminars would be highly desirable, ideally in a Higher Education environment.
• You will be proficient in the use of learning technologies.

Job Salary & Benefits

£33,435 per annum (pro-rata)
