Further Information

We are looking for proactive teaching professionals who can bring their knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to the job so that together we can continue to offer our students an excellent experience whilst working on the continuing development and evolution of courses and programmes at ELT.

Working in a team of some 20 EAP professionals, subject specialists and administrators, supplemented by academic tutors from a wide range of Schools, you will first and foremost enjoy working in a busy, student-facing environment, with all the daily deviations from your plan that this can sometimes entail. You will be a collaborative, confident teacher, able to work at all levels and across a wide range of EAP/ESP courses.

You will design and develop workshops and tutorials for students and contribute to the creation of materials, programme development and the overall teaching and learning within the English Language Teaching department.

In addition to a good first degree, you will be educated to at least Masters level in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or other relevant discipline and you will have a teaching qualification and wide-ranging teaching experience, including experience of teaching EAP at university level. You will have demonstrable cultural awareness, good administrative and time management skills and be used to working collaboratively as part of a successful team.

We particularly welcome applications from teachers with a background in teaching STEM-related courses, or with expertise in testing, teacher education, teaching technologies or computer corpora. We are also interested in significant in-sessional experience and experience coordinating modules at Master’s level. If you are interested in a particular subject area, or specific methodologies, we would like to play to those strengths if we can.

Whatever teaching you do, we expect you to be confident and can-do, willing to take the lead or to follow, able to develop new discipline-specific materials and to deliver them, liaising with staff in a number of Schools to ensure the continuing quality and relevance of course content.

We continue to change, to adapt, and to develop – responsive to the University’s strategic plans for growth – and we are looking for staff who can help us to succeed in our demanding – but rewarding – endeavour.
