This is an exciting opportunity to join the English Language Centre (ELC) at the University of Liverpool in taking responsibility for ELC’s Pre-sessional and In-sessional English language and study skills provision across the Liverpool campus and at the University of Liverpool in London.
You will be required to liaise with academic departments across the University, concentrating most particularly on those subject areas that recruit (or have the potential to recruit) large numbers of international students (whose first language is not English). You will be responsible for ensuring the ELC’s Pre-sessional provision (including the year-long programme) operates in the best interests of students and receiving departments, including the further development of discipline-specific pathways and bespoke provision for PGR candidates. Working with the ELC Director and International Recruitment & Admissions, you will play a role in developing the ELC’s product for different markets and in growing Pre-sessional uptake. Furthermore, you will lead on the continued development of In-sessional English provision across all levels of study, working to increase engagement from ex-Pre-sessional students, direct entrants and students progressing from the University’s partner institutions: Liverpool International College (LIC) and Xian-Jiatong Liverpool University (XJTLU). This includes our ‘KnowHow’ Academic English series, tailor-made support for different disciplines and 1:1 Writing Consultations. You will be supported by a number of Coordinators across the Pre-sessional and In-sessional portfolio.
Grade 8, £39,992 to £50,618 p.a.
