Richmond, The American International University in London is seeking to appoint a full-time faculty member for its Academic Literacies Programme (ALP) within the School of Liberal Arts to begin in January 2020. As part of the on-going development of curriculum within the ALP, we are looking to appoint an experienced new colleague to teach at the undergraduate level, from Freshman (first year/Level 3) to Sophomore (second year/Level 4). The successful candidate will hold a recognised teaching qualification and a relevant Master’s degree. A PhD or terminal qualification in the relevant subject area, related professional qualifications, and evidence of an active research agenda are highly desirable. As Richmond is an international university with students from over 100 countries and has a distinct intercultural mission, an international outlook and experience of both US and UK systems of higher education would be a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will be required to develop and teach credit-bearing courses of English for Academic Purposes at Level 3, and of Research and Writing at Levels 3 and 4, as well as carrying out academic advising and contributing to the future direction of the School. Priority will be given to candidates with proven experience as a teacher at university level.

This is a permanent position, subject to satisfactory completion of a one-year probationary period. Appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience and with a salary commensurate with teaching, research and practical experience in the field of Academic Literacies/EAP.

Job Salary & Benefits

Salary range:
Assistant Professor £33,330 – £39,040; Associate Professor £40,200 – £46,570 per annum, plus excellent benefits
