1972 19th June SELMOUS was established
1976 First conference
1990 SELMOUS became The British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes
1992

BAS (BALEAP Accreditation Scheme) was first established

PIMs (professional issue meetings) were first established

1998 TEAP was established
2000 BALEAP.org.uk was registered
2002 JEAP was established
2004 ResTES was launched
2010 BALEAP became a registered company
2014 The first BALEAP Masters Dissertation Award was awarded
2018 SIGs were established
2020 BALEAP Values were established
2022 BALEAP turned 50
2024 The BALEAP podcast 'All things EAP' was created
2025 The first BALEAP Doctoral award was awarded
2025 The BALEAP Journal of Research and Practice was launched at the 2025 conference
