SIG Event: Teacher Education in EAP: Designing Learning With (and Without) AI in EAP: A Contextualised Approach, with Paul Hendrie.
14th July 2026 from 13:00-14:00
Online
As AI continues to reshape the EAP landscape, this free session moves beyond asking what AI tools can do and focuses instead on what we want AI for in EAP teaching and learning design. Grounded in how people learn, the workshop will introduce simple, context-sensitive frameworks to help practitioners decide when to use AI, when to design around it and when to keep it out altogether. A key focus is on making purposeful design choices that support learning, protect student thinking, and keep EAP resolutely human. Participants will leave with practical resources, including skill files, chatbot examples, readings, applications and design frameworks to adapt for their own contexts. The event is free to attend.
