JUNE 2026 - exact Date to be confirmed
EAP practitioners are uniquely positioned to understand how GenAI is reshaping academic literacies. A consensus is emerging that we must take an active role in addressing these changes and sharing our insights and pedagogical expertise with the wider academy. In so doing, we can help shape student learning and influence emerging language and literacy policies.
The Language Centre at the University of Leeds is pleased to be hosting a professional issues meeting on the implications of developments in AI technologies for practices and practitioners in EAP in June 2026.
This PIM will provide a valuable forum for members of the EAP community to share ongoing or recent research and/or scholarship in this area, as well as to disseminate effective practices and evaluate their impact.
Proposals around the following themes are welcome:
- Implications of GenAI for EAP policies and practice, such as pedagogical redesign, assessment authenticity, academic integrity frameworks, or student support models.
- Lessons learnt from GenAI in EAP and their implications for the wider academy
- Implications of GenAI for scholarship and research in EAP
- Ethical and social justice implications of GenAI in EAP, including equity of access, implicit biases, and increasing professional precarity.
