In this joint free session, Joanne Shiel and Liz Wilding will draw on the concept of ‘boundary spanning’ to explore leadership in transnational education contexts. Prysor and Henley’s (2018) characterisation of boundary spanning HE leadership as engaging with multiple internal and external stakeholders in strategizing and responding to highly complex challenges will resonate with others who have experience of working across disciplinary, institutional and geographic borders.
They will outline examples of our boundary spanning leadership experiences and reflect on the associated challenges and opportunities. Finally, they will invite participants to consider how these lessons might inform development priorities for EAP leaders more generally.
